The full title: Creative Sequencing Techniques For Music Production--A Practical Guide to Pro Tools, Logic, Digital Performer, and Cubase by Andrea Pejrolo might be the ultimate guide book on advice and information about these four popular professional DAW software programs. I know of no other book that tackles all four of these programs.
As a along time Pro Tools user, I found learning and contrasting "how it's done" on the other three programs (about which I know little about) was edifying and it is easy to see the attraction for each. All the latest versions of these programs are covered and I especially like reading about how MIDI sequencing is carried out in the different DAWS.
The book has concise information, soup to nuts, common to all DAW studios--chapters on everything starting from setting up your studio space to equipment requirements to specific MIDI gear to audio gear to acoustic products. Chapters 2, 3, and 4 are complete lesson plans--tutorials that include automation and quantizing. Chapter 5 takes you through learning orchestration via MIDI with individual lessons on each of the orchestra's sections.
Chapter 6 demystifies mixing and the process of rendering MIDI instruments as audio and Chapter 7 finishes with scoring to video (picture) covering SMPTE code and mix stem creation.
Creative Sequencing Techniques For Music Production--A Practical Guide to Pro Tools, Logic, Digital Performer, and Cubase is a great resource for music creators--beginner to pro. It's from Focal Press and sells for $44.95. www.focalpress.com.
