Compared to BFD1, BFD2, with its completely redesigned interface and more powerful control engine, is a whole new acoustic drum production environment. New are the 10, ready-to-play multi-channel 24-bit 44.1 kHz drum kits made up of rare, vintage, boutique and classic drums, plus extra snares and cymbals recorded and sampled in up to 96 velocity layers at London's AIR Studios. This included library is 55GB of data! Like BFD1, there are multiple stereo mic positions, lots of expressive articulations, totally detailed hi-hat sampling, and user sample importation supported.
BFD2's GUI is spread out over five main screens. The Kit Page is for loading and building custom drum set--kit sizes come in 10, 18 or a humongous 32-piece version. The completely revamped Mixer Page is amazing with its flexible routing, sub-mixing and built-in EQ, compressors, flanger, bit-crusher, ring mod, delay and more. You can tweak interdrum bleed levels, play with ambient mic width, create aux sends and patch side-chain effects.
The Grooves Page has over 5,000 grooves with advanced editing, performance and humanization functions. Create realistic drum parts entirely within BFD2! The Keymapping/Automation page is for setting up MIDI and the complete automation of BFD2 from your host DAW. Lastly the Preferences Page customizes BFD2 to perfectly integrate into your own unique style of working.
