Arturia FX Collection--COMP VCA-65 My Fav Compressor and One of 15 New Plug-ins |
The Arturia FX Collection is a new bundle of plug-ins of the most useful outboard processors ever. This is a one-stop, plug-in resource for an instant collection of 15 analog emulations of the loved and best-sounding units!
Arturia FX is divided into five categories with three processors each ready to work.
Compressors offered are: Comp VCA-65, a mono/stereo emulation of the famed dbx165A, Comp Tube-STA models the Gates STA-LEVEL tube broadcast limiter, and Comp FET-76 models the Universal Audio 1176LN F.E.T. Limiting Amplifier. I own and use all three of these actual units in my studio but I only have one of each! These are all excellent renditions--my favorite here is the COMP VCA-65. All three compressors have drop down panels for Arturia's Advance Side-Chain Control that the original units never had!
Delays has: TAPE-201 an emulation of a Roland RE-201 Space Echo, MEMORY-BRIGADE models an analog 'bucket brigade' delay line such as Electro-Harmonix' Memory Man, and ETERNITY creates endless delays. My favorite here is Eternity for its complete and easy programmability.
Next are three reverbs! There is PLATE-140 that sounds every bit like an EMT 140ST plate, INTENSITY is Arturia's take on a digital reverb, and SPRING-636 is a twangy spring reverb tank great for guitars. My favorite is REV PLATE 140 because it is a very hearable reverb that doesn't wash out.
The three vintage classic sounding channels strips in the Preamps collection are: Pre 1973 (70's Neve), Pre TridA Trident A-Range sound, and Pre V76 a tube preamp that models the Telefunken circuit. I thought the Pre 1973 produced the sound of the EQ in a Neve 1073 module very well. It has input and output gain controls and takes me back to when I used those old consoles.
The icing on the cake is the fifth bundle, Filters. I loved using the MINI--a plug-in version of a 24dB/octave low-pass Moog ladder filter, M12 is an analog poly synth filter with a lot of great presets and a screen to visualize what is going on, and SEM is Arturia's take on a Tom Oberheim filter design. You'll love them all but I choose the M12 for its versatility--I never before heard what this does to a lowly electric piano track!
The complete FX Collection sells for $399 download and your music and production will change for the better if you own this! It runs 64-bit Native in VST2.4/3, AAX, AU and NKS hosts.
