The Carnaval sound module is third in the new E-MU line of sound modules that includes the Orbit and Planet Phatt. All three of these modules use the BEATS mode that now features 100 drum loops that can be synchronized to their own internal clock or external MIDI clock. Carnaval is 16-part multi-timbral with 32 note polyphony. Like Planet Phatt, Carnaval holds 28 user songs and 28 factory songs with each song capable of having ten events that link beats together. Carnaval also has X-Factor or beat transposition whereby completely new grooves can be based around a single drum loop.

The 640 presets in Carnaval are all designed to add a Latin touch to any music. There are also 100 different percussion instruments along with brass, violins, organs, accordions, acoustic and electric guitars, acoustic basses, vocal effects, acoustic and electronic drum kits and flamenco guitars.
