The dbx Quantum is a single rack space digital multi-band compressor, limiter, expander, noise gate, parametric EQ, de-esser, normalizer and equipped with dbx's own Type IV™ conversion system. Designed for stereo processing or mastering of finished mixes, the Quantum is one of the first digital products capable of a 96kHz sampling rate and 24-bit depth.

There are both AES/EBU and S/PDIF digital inputs and outs, both XLR and 1/4 inch balanced analog I/Os and a 48-bit internal signal path. The A/D and D/A converters support full 24-bit as well as 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96kHz sample rates. The Type IV output is the same analog circuitry found in dbx's flagship Blue Series compressors. The five-band equalizer has three bands of parametric EQ with hi and lo shelves. The Quantum will work as either a stereo linked system or as two mono units with the various multi-band gating, limiting, compression processes being linked or unlinked as desired. The large display shows digital levels and all other operations graphically. There are also twin, LED metering of the analog inputs and outputs since the are presented on the display.
