The DIO is a stereo, analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converter in a single, small package. Powered by a wall-wart power supply, there is a dual-triode 12AX7 tube in the signal path that can be adjusted to add a "character" to the A/D conversion anywhere from a very clean and pristine sound to a more warm and fuzzy nature. Perfect for "future-proofing" your computer music system with its versatility, the DIO features stereo analog inputs and outputs, 24-bit S/PDIF digital I/O, and switchable 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96kHz sample rates. The unit will also sync to external digital systems automatically when External mode is selected.
There are two control knobs on the front panel: Input Gain for adjusting the analog audio level and Tube Warmth that sets drive to the 12AX7. At higher Tube Warmth settings, a yellow LED lights to show saturation of the tube. Small and portable desktop-sized, the DIO fits anywhere and helps to eliminate noise inherent with internal computer sound cards.
An easy to use portable A/D and D/A stereo converter that anybody can use for recording and playback of digital soundfiles, the ART DIO sells for $249 MSRP and comes with one-year warranty.
